Grotto Meetings: Every Other Wednesdays, 7:00-9:00 PM EST
The Nittany Grotto meets jointly with the Nittany Grotto Caving Club (NGCC) every other Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the State College Muncipal Building (simply refered to as the Borough building). The meeting is held on the second floor, generally in Room 241 or 220, but can vary depending on availability (please check with an officer prior to coming if you are unsure). The Borough building is located 3 blocks south of the main campus of Penn State University at 243 South Allen Street near the intersection with Foster Street, State College, PA.
Grotto meetings are held year around including both the Fall and Spring semesters as well as during the Summer months, however they are not normally held during Winter Break and/or Spring Break within the academic year. The general meetings consists of the Caving Club business meeting and an occasional program.
After the general meeting, the grotto usually moves to a member's residence for the "After Meeting Meeting", commonly referred to as the "AMM". The host generally supplies various snacks and other goodies, while each attendee typically supplies their own favorite beverage.
Grotto Meetings: Online via Zoom
Meetings can also be attended online through the use of Zoom. Zoom is an online meeting and conferencing service provider, in which a viewer can watch anywhere if not able to attend the meeting in State College. Software must be installed from Zoom in advance of joining in. Visit Zoom and enter the meeting ID code or click on the link provided below.
Annual Membership Meeting
Besides the general meetings held throughout the year, Nittany Grotto also holds an annual membership business meeting where officers are elected and to conduct business that may come before the Board. Any business that may occur between the annual business meeting is conducted directly by the Board members. The annual membership / business meeting is open to the public.
The next Annual Nittany Grotto Membership Business Meeting will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the Rupert Cave Property, located in near McVeytown, PA (Mifflin County). The meeting will start around 6:00 PM and will include a "Potluck Dinner", social gathering after the meeting, and camping activities. Please consider bringing along your favorite dish and beverage to share with attendees.
